FAQ's

Q: Will I need planning permission for my project?

A: Many conservatories, orangeries and even extensions can be built under the current permitted development laws without the need for applying for planning permission. There are some conditions that your project would need to meet, but we can advise you on these. For replacement conservatory roofs, window and doors, you would not normally need planning permission unless you lived in a conservation area. If your project does require planning, we can arrange drawings, submit your application and even arrange for structural calculations if required.

Q: Will I need a building regulations certificate for my project?

A: In most cases the answer is YES. We work closely with the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) departments. We can arrange your application, liaise with the Building Inspector through-out your project and you will be provided with a certificate upon completion. Without the correct certification for your project it can be difficult to sell your home in the future.

Replacement Conservatory Roofs

Q: Will the roof be too heavy for my existing frames?

A: No. Our replacement roofs are only marginally heavier than a glass roof, due to the way they have been designed.  As per the LABC guidelines (April 2016), as longs as the existing structure shows no signs of distress, the existing foundations should be adequate to carry the small additional loadings. It is therefore important to choose a roof that has proven calculations for its weight loading. Our roofs are structurally proven even under heavy snowfall.

Q: Is condensation a real issue?

A: Very much so, which is why every roof that we install has been specially designed to prevent this.

Q: How long will it take to complete the work?

A: Although every installation is different, an average conservatory roof replacement is completed within 2-3 days.
Conservatories, Orangeries and Extensions

Q: Will the materials used match my house?

A: Yes, we will always undertake a brick match and source building materials to match those of your existing house to keep it in keeping with your property. We always strive to achieve a seamless extension to your home.

Q: How long will it take to complete the work?

A: An average conservatory can be completed in around 4-6 weeks, and Orangery will take a little longer and an average single storey extension is around 8-10 weeks. No project is ever the same, and it also depends on the internal works that you are planning too!
Windows and Doors

Q: Can you match to my existing style of windows?

A: Yes, we offer an extremely wide range of windows to complement every home, such as uPVC windows, wooden or aluminium and we have many styles available in many colours. We even a range of decorative and obscure glass to match and complement your home.

Q: Will I get a guarantee?

There is a 10-year guarantee for all frames, including the sealed double-glazed units. In the unlikely event of a problem with your windows, we’ll do out our very best to sort the problem out quickly.
